Nutmeg Hot Chocolate with Homemade Whipped Cream

Ingredients
  

Nutmeg Hot Chocolate
  • 2 cups milk of choice
  • ½ cup heavy cream
  • 2 Tbsp unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 3 Tbsp coconut sugar
  • ½ tsp vanilla extract
  • ½ tsp nutmeg
Whipped Cream
  • ½ cup heavy whipping cream
  • ¼ cup powdered sugar
  • ¼ tsp vanilla extract

Method
 

Make the nutmeg hot chocolate
  1. In a pot, whisk together all the hot chocolate ingredients.
  2. Bring hot chocolate to a simmer on low to medium low heat.
  3. Adjust taste by adding more nutmeg, cocoa powder, sugar, or milk.
  4. Once sugar is dissolved and warm, pour into mugs.
Prepare the homemade whipped cream
  1. In a electric mixing bowl with the whisk attachment, add the heavy whipping cream, powered sugar, and vanilla extract.
  2. Whisk on medium to medium high speed for a few minutes until it is a thick, whipped cream consistency.
  3. Serve nutmeg hot chocolate warm in mugs with a dollop of chilled whipped cream. Garnish with dash of nutmeg.
