“We now have this light shining in our hearts, but we ourselves are like fragile clay jars containing this great treasure. This makes it clear that our great power is from God, not from ourselves.”
-2 Corinthians 4:7 NLT
There’s something about a warm mug of hot chocolate that instantly makes the cold months better. This Nutmeg Hot Chocolate takes that familiar comfort and adds a subtle layer of warmth and spice that makes it feel just a little more special. It’s rich, smooth, and deeply chocolatey, with dashes of nutmeg adding a gentle warmth that lingers in the best way.
Unlike overly sweet hot cocoa mixes, this version is made with unsweetened cocoa powder and you can adjust the sweetness to whatever you like! This beverage is melted into warm milk and heavy cream, creating a silky texture. The nutmeg doesn’t overpower this hot chocolate, instead, it enhances the chocolate and brings a cozy depth.
And then there’s the homemade whipped cream. Light, softly sweetened, and flavored with vanilla extract, it melts slowly into the hot chocolate, creating creamy swirls with every sip. Making whipped cream from scratch only takes a few minutes, but it completely transforms the drink into something that feels thoughtful and elevated. This Nutmeg Hot Chocolate is the kind of recipe you make when you want comfort and something simple, but made well.
