Ingredients

  • 12 oz fresh cranberries (about 3 cups)
  • 1 medium orange zested and juiced
  • ½-¾ cup coconut sugar (add more sugar if you like it sweet)
  • ¼ cup maple syrup
  • ¼ cup water
  • ½ tsp cinnamon
  • ¼ tsp ground ginger
  • Pinch of salt

Method

  1. Wash your cranberries and add them to a medium sauce pot.
  2. Add in the orange zest, juice, coconut sugar, maple syrup, water, cinnamon, ginger, and a pinch of salt.
  3. Bring to a simmer over medium heat. And let cook for 12-15 minutes stirring occasionally.
  4. The cranberries should burst and mixture should thicken to a sauce-like, spoonable texture.
  5. If it looks too thick while cooking, add 1–2 tablespoons of water.
  6. Taste and adjust sweetness. Add a little more maple syrup if you prefer it sweeter.
  7. Let the relish cool completely. It will thicken significantly as it cools.
  8. Store in a mason jar or container in the refrigerator for up to 7 days or freeze.
