Tart Cherry Jam

The best jams don’t require a lot of ingredients, which is why you should make yours homemade instead of buying them from the grocery store. This Tart Cherry Jam is a deliciously vibrant spread made with fresh cherries and sweetened with coconut sugar. It’s the perfect balance of sweet and tangy, cooked down to a rich, jammy consistency that has the flavor of summer in every spoonful.

Spread it on toast, swirl it into yogurt, or layer it in desserts. Or be unique and add it to my Cherry Pistachio Milk Matcha Latte or my Cherry White Chocolate Macadamia Nut Cookies! This jar of cherry jam will add a burst of homemade goodness to anything you pair it with.

Tart Cherry Jam

Servings: 1 18 oz jar
Course: Condiment
Cuisine: American

Ingredients

  • 3 cups cherries washed and pitted
  • ½ cup coconut sugar add more if you want it sweeter
  • 1-2 Tbsp water

Method

  1. Start by washing, removing the steams, and pitting your cherries. You can choose to rough chop them if you want a finer texture jam. Leaving them whole will give you a chunkier jam.
  2. In a medium pot, add your cherries, sugar and 1 Tbsp water. Let cook on low heat until it comes to a simmer while stirring. If sugar or cherries are burning, add another Tbsp of water.
  3. Continue to cook on low for 15-20 minutes for the cherries to soften.
  4. Mash cherries while cooking with a potato masher. Taste jam and adjust taste for sweetness.
  5. Continue to mash until desired texture and chunkiness.
  6. Remove from heat and let cool completely on stove top.
  7. Transfer the cooled cherry jam to a clean mason jar and store in your refrigerator.
